Life

Where do you come from?

From France (hum hum)… More specifically from a small town called Chambery near Italy and Switzerland’s boarder in the Alps (in fact, some people even call me Heidi). My city is at sea level so I don’t ski! I must say that it is pretty scandalous to have lived in the Alps and not know how to ski (laughing). I’ve been living in Montreal for the past 6 years and I am very happy here.

What do you do for a living?

I am a web marketing strategist. I’ve been working in web advertising for the past 4 years and am also finishing a master’s degree in Marketing at HEC. To top that off, I also have a big project that I’ve been preoccupied with these past few days…

What quote helps you stay positive?

My favorite quote is the one that best describes me: “Wisdom is to have dreams that are big enough for you not to lose sight of them while pursuing them.” -Oscar Wilde. I must say that I have many dreams. I believe that one life is not long enough to accomplish them all. What fuels me is to constantly have new projects. I love the excitement it gives me… even projects from others stimulate me. I love the entrepreneurial spirit, it truly fascinates me to witness others building projects. I love to encourage them!

Fashion and Style

Describe your personal sense of style:

Omg! I am not very good at describing my personal style. If you don’t mind, here’s a description that Elodie from the blog “Hello Elo“ wrote about me. I will let you judge if that corresponds: “Her style is impeccable, sharp and edgy… Whether she wears a structured vest, short shorts or other pieces with a strong rock vibe… these items are the basis of her everyday look. She also masters mixing soft and light pieces as seen on her latest blog post: “ La vie en Rose”. The post is really flattering and I hope you agree with what she wrote.

What does the expression “living life in style” mean to you?

I’m afraid I might say something very boring. I believe that living life in style is not about what you wear. It is rather feeling good about yourself… not asking yourself questions and simply live! Also, I must add… NEVER TAKE YOURSELF SERIOUSLY, NEVER!

Who do you look up to in the fashion industry?

No one haha! Just kidding. I generally never look up to anyone in any kind of field… I simply believe that the concept is not very sane.  However, I do admire lots of people: some for what they have accomplished and others for who they are. In fashion, I get inspired by so many different people that it is hard to pin point one. My biggest source of inspiration is bloggers simply because they’re always up to date with everything. My icon is Emmanuel Alt. I love her style, she’s very classy.

According to you, who’s the most influent fashion designer today?

Ooh la, that’s a hard question… there are so many! I literally lose it every time I go through the Vogue Collection. If only I had my dream wallet, I would get Isabel Marant, Balmain, Jean-Paul Gaultier, MMM, Chloé, etc. and Valentino for the evenings. I am a Libra, it’s hard to make one choice! I also love to discover new local emerging designers. It fulfills my fascination for entrepreneurship. Sites such as Privé are paradise on Earth for me. It allows me to discover new brands made by passionate designers.

Fun and Play

MC: Tell us something that happened to you when you were little (that’s fashion related, of course)

AS: When I was a child, I used to dress my dolls up with the clothes I wore as a baby (we didn’t have much money at the time). And I remember this one no-sleeve fur vest. I must have been really hype wearing that as a baby I can assure you my dolls were at least haha!

You never leave your house without…

My iPhone! As soon as I close my front door, I take it out of my bag and check my emails, Facebook account and Twitter before getting in the Metro. I’ve already checked them 5 times today at least!

What is most important to you in life?

Family, friends, and everyone in my entourage.

What is not so important?

AS: I can’t believe how some people waste their energy so negatively.
