I met fashion blogger Marie-Pier Lessard author of the blog called
“Les Carnets Mode” on the Bridal Boudoir photo shoot. We bumped into each other as we were both guest judges for the web-reality TV show FlashMods. We also both had the opportunity of being brand ambassadors for Martin Lim. Little did we know, friendship grew out of it. I got to know this amazing individual. Here’s what she had to say about fashion, life and style.

Fashion
Marjorie’s Closet -What are Montreal’s fashions Must Haves?
Marie-Pier – For clothing, there are many gems in our city. I love going to stores such as Rocco, Urban Outfitters, Zara, Olivia and Unicorn.
Marjorie’s Closet – What are your outfit essentials?
Marie-Pier- I must confess that I am very simple when it comes to fashion. I am a fan of black! For some reason, this color secures me (makes me feel safe)! I love anything that has a nice cut with a little edge. So, if it’s black, unstructured with studs, Ill buy it!
MC- What were your top Montreal Fashion Week favorites ?
MP- My big favorites were Anastasia Lomonova and Melissa Nepton’s collection. I also had a huge crush on Barilà’s seventies look! I mean, you must have seen those jumpsuits! They really caught my eyes! Loved it!
MC - Your blog is mainly about beauty. What are your top 3 beauty products ?
MP- Smith’s Rosubud Salve Limp Balm, wine lipssticks and everthing by Revlon. micellar Water Sensibio H2O by Bioderma.
Style
MC- How would you describe your style?
MP- Discreet and dark with a little rock twist. Yet, I fancy garments that are comfortable and versatile.

MC- What does the expression “living your life in style” mean to you ?
MP- Living in style, is to pay attention to what surrounds you and being attentive to ourselves. It’ s accepting who you are.
MC- What quote helps you stay positive?
MP- It comes from a song by Florence and The Machine called Shake it Out:
“It’s always darkest before dawn”.
Life
MC- Tell us a little story about when you were little related to makeup.
MP- Oh my God! I have so many! I remember stealing not once but many times my mother’s lipsticks. I was playing movie star in my room. Other memorable childhood moments where when I spent time with my mother at the beauty counters. My mom always took care of herself and she truly passed that on to me which is now my passion. She used to ask my opinion when choosing makeup shades. She was looking to get my insight despite the fact that I was only 10 years old. I remember being so happy when she would pick what I suggested to her.
MC- You had won a contest to blog for Mlle Tv’s site. How was your experience?
MP- Wow! It was amazing and taught me a lot about myself. I felt that I have grown so much last summer. All of sudden, I was given a web space to express and share on any topic I wanted. The best part is that I was earning professional experience. Finally, bothering my close friends and family to vote for me paid off. It was the most exciting experience of my life.
MC- You also, got a guest judge gig for the web-reality TV FlashMods, how was that experience?
MP- What a great project! Mitsou would always say that FlashMods was her “Friday Candy”, I also felt the same! We all had fun with the film crew. I simply enjoyed all the conversations that took place behind the scenes. It was so great to share this experience with my blogger friends. I loved it but I must say it was way too short !
Early in the morning Marie-Pier, Nathalie and Robyn on the FlashMod’s set.
MC- Why is it important to create relationships with other bloggers?
MP- Oh my God! Yes! Many may not believe it, but bloggers are a little family. The world of blogs is growing fast and it may be scary and overwhelming. It reassures me to be part of the RBBMM . I get the chance to have other bloggers insights for questions or simply stay informed on topics related to our field. Without them, I would not have be where I am today.
